Calories come and go, but memories last forever

At the beginning of my vacation, I promised myself that I wouldn’t let my feelings about my body take away from my experiences.

At first, I mostly associated experiences like swimming in the ocean or going out to dinner despite being in more revealing clothes with that memo.

However… I’ve come to realize that eating food is also a massive part of my vacation experience! A large amount of my time on vacation was spent eating meals with my family. Instead of going out for dinner once a week, which is what I’m used to, we were going out for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner every day for 12 days. This is a privilege, and these meals are supposed to be memorable, fun, and stress-free.

While there are a few intentions I didn’t fulfill this trip, I’m proud of myself for being able to eat guilt-free. I struggled at first, but then I was able to let go. This truly enhanced my experience and mood tremendously and allowed me to make great memories. I know that stressing about the food at these meals would only take away from an otherwise amazing trip.

Vacation is all about the experiences. If you think the food will contribute to some amazing memories (which it probably will), then it deserves to take priority. You’re not going to look back on the trip wishing that you didn’t eat that extra dessert. You’re going to remember the incredible crème brûlée you had (seen in the pics above🤤). Calories will come and go, and you’re going to forget. The memories, on the other hand, will last forever.
